The Wind

A beautiful energy made present by that which it moves and passes over.
The wind takes no physical form and yet we know it is there.

Life. Presence. Feel the wind.

Seaside Living

Our final few days living by the sea.

As the morning fog breaks and reveals the blue sky she walks the beach in search of a living treasure. Jelly fish lay ashore on the beach these days and she and her brother rescue them, tossing them back to sea. The tide takes what it can. Sand fleas hop. The kids dig deeply with their shovels and sand goes airborne. It's quiet except for the gentle lap of the water on the rocky shore and the distant sound of a rocking rowboat swaying and dancing in the sea. You can smell and taste the air. It's sweet and salty. Peaceful and tranquil. Beautiful and serene. A perfect place to let down your hair and simply be.

Wavy

Six-weeks we have lived by the sea. Just under a week remaining now and we head inland 20 minutes. We have enjoyed our coastal dwelling and daily strolls to the beach next door. It has been good for the soul and food for the heart. Here he rests on a bench mid-way up the beach access staircase, and he looks out to sea. Dreaming perhaps of the day he can ride in a rowboat or venture out to the distant islands he sees. Relaxed and peaceful. Maybe even a little bit sleepy.

Thinking Deeply

Have a beautiful day!

Ready for Summer

It's almost officially summer time and we've just had our first heatwave of upper 90 degree weather. So it feels like it is already summer here. And why not kick-off summer with a short haircut and a sunburn? Our little guy did. This morning we decided to do haircuts for the boys in our house and because we are getting used to contending with Maine ticks (TJ woke up with one hiding in his hair this morning!) I decided to give our little guy his first buzz cut. I really wanted to leave the bangs a bit longer for the messy-sticky-hair-up-look but I gave in to his sweet request of cutting it all off to match the sides. And so here he is at the beach by our house. I just love the seagrass that grows there! So pretty.
Summer Cut

Yah, I tried to see if our little girl would be interested in a buzz cut and you know... she flat turned me down. :) I'm actually really really glad she did. I'm loving the long hair and it seems like it has taken forever for her bangs to grow out to where they are at right now. I'm hoping she'll tolerate growing her hair out even longer, to mid-back or so.

We shopped at LL Bean the other day and found these flip-flops at the women's department. She was quickly drawn to them and was so excited when a women's size 6 fit her! She is a size 3-4 in girls. Go figure! And of course, since she was able to shop in my department, she wanted me to get a matching pair.
Beach Girl
She really wanted to be beachcombing but she put up with me and my big fat lens in her face for a few shots. Her front tooth is really bucking out as it hangs on for the final few days. Must I knock this one out too, I wonder??? tee hee... j/k
Happy
Have a marvelous weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Froggy

{....more pics added....scroll down!...}

This morning the kids and I stopped off at a local pond where they like to catch tadpoles and now bullfrogs! Yup, the tadpoles, some of them anyway, are full-grown and ready to leapin'. My daughter was thrilled when she successfully captured this frog with a sand toy bucket from the pond water. Her brother was overjoyed to see this little guy. And so with a little encouragement they held the frog and then held him over and over and over. I had fun playing with the morning backlight and my long lens. Isn't he so cute?! This is my son holding the frog.

Here's another shot of him holding him so nicely. I'm happy to say that this frog wasn't injured and was happily released some 15 minutes after this playtime.Kermit

"What's going to work? Team work!"
Here they are as a team admiring Sir Froggy and learning how to hold him. The beach bucket was a great tool in the catching process and in handling him. Frogs are amphibians and must be kept moist so we kept him in water in the bucket and then held him and then back to bucket and then held him again. They did really well with him and had so much fun!

Captivated

Here's the great frog catcher herself looking intently at the pond's edge for any slight movement. The lighting was just perfect that morning.
Beauty

My daughter is holding Sir Froggy here and her Grama has always told her that she has a heart of gold. When I uploaded these images and saw that her hands holding him were in the shape of a heart I was pleased. And isn't it just great that he has one arm gracefully draping over her hand. I love the bokeh specular lighting too.
